Client Success
The CAL computerized assessment system is among the most studied and researched computerized, real-time test delivery application in K-12 education today. Our team, made up of researchers, directors, and professors who have authored over 100 rigorous academic publications, works diligently to ensure the compatibility of CAL's online assessments with their paper and pencil counterparts.
CAL is committed to providing clients not only with high quality online assessments but also with the training tools, tutorials, practice tests, and technical support essential to computerized assessments.
State of Kansas
Beginning in 2003, students have been able to take online versions of the Kansas State Assessments using CAL's computerized assessment system. Since 2004, over 770,000 online assessments have been administered in mathematics, reading, science, and social studies. In 2007 alone, 156,294 mathematics assessments and 149,139 reading assessments in grades 3-11 were taken online.
State of Idaho
In 2007, the Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) was administered online using the CAL computerized assessment system. That year, approximately 600,000 online ISAT assessments were administered in four content areas (mathematics, reading, science, and language usage).
State of Alaska
CAL and its partner Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) have worked with the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development to develop the Alaska Computerized Formative Assessment (ACFA) Program. In 2007, there were 7,167 online mathematics and reading assessments administered using the ACFA program.
State of Oklahoma
Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, the Oklahoma School Testing Program contracted with CAL to administer the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT) online in reading and mathematics at Grade 8 and geography at Grade 7. The CAL software not only provides an easy-to-use testing interface for students, but also training tools, tutorials, and practice tests tailored to meet the needs of the OCCT. In fall 2007, 31,432 reading tests and 30,201 mathematics tests were administered successfully and without interruption using the CAL system.
NCEA Assessments
The NCEA has been using assessments designed to strengthen catechetical/religious education programs since the 1970s. Seeing the need for an online alternative, NCEA turned to CAL to design an online version of the Information for Growth (IFG for adults) assessment.
After the first administration of the online assessment, Jerry Sanderson, Associate Superintendent of the Diocese of Peoria, observed, “It is easy to administer and provides the technical excellence and reliable data we need to improve the planning and effectiveness of our spiritual development programs.”
